From 6 to 10 June 2022, EKA and the City of Athens hosted a Mutual Learning Program (MLP) in the framework for the UnionMigrantNet & Cities Together for Integration project. In this MLP, partners from Greece welcomed partners from Italy and shared experiences, practices, measures, and instruments that are used in both countries.
During these days, members from both countries and a representant of ETUC visited different services working with migrants in Athens, and also had the chance to learn more about the good practices of multileveled cooperation on the integration of third country nationals (TCNs) in the country, with emphasis on the equal access to the labour market.
Some relevant issues were discussed during this MLP as the common challenges at the European level, the impact of the national legislation on the integration but also a comparison between the national legislations.
During this MLP, it was emphasized that an effective cooperation between entities improves the accessibility of the beneficiaries to the services and increases the capability to process the requests. Moreover, this cooperation promotes information exchanges, capability building, joint events, mapping common challenges.
This Mutual Learning Programme is one of the 6 MLPs organised in the framework of the “UnionMigrantNet & Cities Together for Integration” project. The other MLPs are organised in Italy, Bulgaria, Belgium, Slovenia and Poland. The purpose of these MLPs is to improve UMN members and local authorities’ services provided to migrants and refugees by the exchange of experiences and good practices, but also to develop instruments aimed at smoothing their integration in the labour market. |
